Biography - Chris Cooper, Principal

I am a lawyer and principal of the law firm C.J. Cooper and Associates which has been operating since 1986.

Whilst I represent a diverse range of private clients in various areas of law, the firm’s primary focus has been largely on corporate organisational matters and commercial issues.

I have extensive experience in rural law and, in particular, legal issues in the sugar industry. My personal experience and interest in the Sugar Industry arises from being raised on a cane farm in the Nambour area and I have been engaged as legal consultant to the Queensland and Australian Cane Growers’ Organisations since 1983.

I represent many landholders as respondents in relation Native Title claims and, with the changes to State wide power and transport infrastructure, I represent an extensive range of landholders who are affected by property resumptions, in their claim for compensation.

This firm has numerous commercial and residential property clients and assists them in relation to property portfolios.

My experience as an accredited mediator provides the challenge of resolving disputes and solving problems, by means other than Court litigation wherever possible.

I strive to provide my legal services in a sensible and practical way, in a personal, professional and ethical manner.

The firm’s business is centred around representing a small number of significant clients. This allows me to provide a personal service with a high level of expertise and professionalism.
